With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we announce the passing of Shelia Anne Brown on March 28, 2024, in her hometown of St. Louis, Missouri.


Born to Flora Mae Norman and John Norman, Sr. on November 7, 1944, Shelia's life was a testament to love, education, and an unwavering dedication to her family and community.


Sheila embarked on a distinguished academic journey. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Elementary and Early Childhood Education in 1974 at the University of Missouri - St. Louis.

She furthered her passion for learning at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, where she obtained a Master's in Library Science in 1976.


There, she met and married, Charles S. Brown, with whom she shared three children: Benin, Obie, and Kayla Brown.


In 1984, Shelia returned to St. Louis, embarking on a fulfilling career spanning over 20 years as a teacher and school librarian.


Her dedication and deep belief in the power of education positively impacted countless students' lives.

Shelia loved reading literature, genealogy, and learning about African American history.


She enjoyed sharing the stories and lessons she discovered with others. Shelia enjoyed spending time with her family.


She also enjoyed church and will be remembered as a dedicated mother, sister, grandmother, and friend..


Though she has passed from this world, her love will guide us forever. God has her in his keeping; we have her in our hearts.

As we celebrate the remarkable life of Shelia Anne Brown, we remember her not only as a beloved family member but also as a compassionate animal advocate.
